SARSCENE 2003, Kingston Ontario October 15-18 Questions

What is SARSCENE?

  • SARSCENE, an annual workshop, is Canada's only national event for all search and rescue professionals. It is an annual conference featuring presentations from Canadian and International experts, over 50 exhibits, demonstrations, games, tours and special events.

Where and when will SARSCENE 2004 take place?

  • Calgary, Alberta at the Hyatt Regency
  • October 13-16, 2004

What will I see at SARSCENE?

You will see presentations about such topics as:

  • Prevention
  • Severe weather
  • Interoperability and technology
  • Cooperation between paid and volunteer SAR providers
  • Leadership in SAR
  • Success stories in SAR
  • New Search and Rescue Initiatives Fund (NIF)
  • Critical incident stress debriefings
  • COSPAS-SARSAT satellite system
  • SAR in other countries

• The air and marine demonstrations will showcase SAR techniques and technology. Bilingual commentary will be provided throughout the demonstrations.

• There will be approximately 50 exhibits with information on new products and technologies. New at the exhibits this year is a no-conflict time, so delegates can visit the exhibits without having to miss out on any of the presentations.

Who attends SARSCENE?

• SARSCENE attracts about 700 participants from across Canada and internationally, including federal government representatives (Canadian Coast Guard, Department of National Defence, Environment Canada, Parks Canada, RCMP and Transport Canada); provincial and municipal police involved in SAR operations; volunteers from ground, air and marine search and rescue teams; international SAR providers; canine handlers; and others.
